I was browsing thru the net and saw that the California School for the Deaf has athletics, let alone a football team? I was just wondering is this for real?

So does Illinois. They have a guy with a big drum on the sidelines. The deaf kids can't hear, but they can feel the vibrations of the drum and that's what they use to snap the ball.

It's basically arena football played outside, it's really high scoring. As far as having never heard of it, you must live a sheltered life.

Thats how the huddle started, a deaf football team didnt want the other team to read its sign language.
Go look it up if you dont believe me.

dont forget they're ususally lopsided contests, in oregon a lot of the 1a (8-man) football games end in scores of 60-0, 55-12, real lopsided. heck even in the state playoffs for 8-man ball it's still lopsided...
back to deaf football teams, i'd be nervous if i wore there opponents, because you never know when the o-line is gonna fire off the ball... assuming if you were on a non-deaf team.
also our school had a player a few years back that was deaf, we had plays signed into him, he was quite the football player, too. He coulda had d-1aa scholarships, but because he was deaf, all he could do was walk on. He always played till the whistle thats for sure, i remember him nailing on kid on our rivals team like 5 seconds after the play was over. I heard from my brother who is friends with him that he may play semi-pro.

no, it's just that there is no highschool here that has 8 man football, i've never spoken to anyone in my life about it , it's never mentioned on tv, on the internet, and i never recalled it being on these forums.
