How important are strong hamstrings in football? I tried doing a search on it but nothing came up. What types of things do they help you with specifically?

I'm always reading that, roughly,
Quads=Top Speed
Glutes/Hams= Acceleration
but I'm not an expert on that.

I know for a fact, you should keep your hamstrings as strong or up to par with your quads because if not that can lead to injuries like hamstring pulls, tears, and your more liable to an ACL injury also.

As for sprinting or running, ik your hamstrings have to do a lot with your start and acceleration like said before but I have to look into that...

It's actually more of top speed- the posterior chain, while acceleration mor if quads but all qualitites need to be strong in order to function as they should.

I thought it was the opposite of that. Because if your accelerating you have a strong forward lean and your supposed to think of pushing through the ground, that would be mostly quads. Top speed would be hamstrings and gluts because they are pulling you through your stride at that point.

You're right, that would make more sense, and I forget which way it was.
