Oh well, just my opinion.

obviously it did, because there was only 2 unbeatens. Add a 3rd to the mix and it would be confusion again.

They should add a playoff game if the number third team is unbeaten in a BCS conference.

well i like the nat'l champ. game, no complaints there. im just pissed oregon wasnt given a bsc game, call me a homer whatever. oregon has a better record... yes i know nd played usc 2 but they had 2 weeks to prepare for the game. ND also lost to MSU, 5-6 at home! their opponent winning percentage was under 500, oregons was around 550, oregon has had more wins in the past 12 years and more bowl games, and wins in those past 12 years. Number 6 over number 5... hmmm go figure.

no, theres bowls, and then theres the bcs bowls like a sugar, rose, fiesta, etc. All those are part of the bowl championship series, while other bowls like the motor city bowls are by invites and not predetermined.

Aside from the national championship game, the other 3 BCS bowls have can choose any team that's won at least 9 games and is ranked in the BCS. That's why ND is going to the BCS and Oregon isn't.

Exactly put the teams on TV that people wanna see, no offense Notre Dame has more TV value than Oregan, unless you live in Oregan.

Arch52

airklima23, you are right, nd has more tv value, i wont argue that. secondly why cant ppl pronounce or spell O-R-E-G-O-N right? ;)

you'd think though that having a centralized target population would get less views (ND/OSU both in the midwest). Now if you had Oregon in the mix, you, you'd get a lot more views now with the NW, W, and midwest. Trust the Pac-10 has a loyal fan base and we all support each other in our bowl games. I want USC, UCLA, etc to win. Just like how i loved watching ND get STOMPED by oreg. st TWICE!!!

but nd at best would be a middle of the road pac 10 team (37-34 win of Stan.) who lost to a d1-aa team. Yeah they lost by 3 to USC, but they had 2 weeks of preparation... no other team had that.

in all honesty ND gets in becuz they have a tradition... which is interesting becuz their last bowl win was in '92... some tradition.

anyways another year... another problem with the bcs...

Even though Oregon's loss was to the number one team in the nation. They still are an average team. Put them in a BCS conference and they will struggle to stay in the middle of things. ND had a harder schedule because they play teams from there independants conference and team from the SEC Big Ten and Pac-10.

Rally sons of Notre Dame,
Sing her glory, and sound her fame
Raise her Gold and Blue,
And cheer with voices true,
Rah! Rah! For Notre Dame.

We will fight in every game
Strong of heart and true to her name.
We will ne'er forget her
And we'll cheer her ever,
Loyal to Notre Dame.

Chorus:
Cheer, cheer for Old Notre Dame
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send the volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky,
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to Victory.

I was just explaining why the BCS picked ND over Oregon.

My dad is a ND fan he only knows a couple of players on there team now. Like darius walker, brady quinn, and jeff semarja.

The congress said that there will be no playoffs. Some protestors said that it would take away the tradition of college football, and it would take away the importance of the regular season. The BCS could consider adding it and and it could go into effectwhen they sign another contract if they add it. the BCS signed a new onteract like 2 years ago for 6 years I think. i'm not exactly sure though.

EAST COAST BIAS!!!

ND versus pac 10 teams 5 games 2-3. ;) .. washington shouldnt count, and they barely beat stanford
Norte Shame at best would be a MIDDLE of the road pac-10 team... they couldnt beat Oregon St, USC, UCLA, Cal, Oregon, ASU... should i go on?
ND barely beat UW by about 10 or so... oregon beat them by 31... nd escaped from stanford by three... oregon beat stanford at stanford by more than 30.... need more info?

ND really had a tough schedule... only their opponents winning percentage was under .500.... POWDERPUFF!

about ratings.... oregons fiest bowl game against colorado, had higher ratings than Ohio states last 2.... hmmm....

ND barely beat UW by about 10 or so...
They beat Washington 36-17...19, 10 what's the difference right?

nd escaped from stanford by three
They beat Stanford 38-31.

Notre Dame lost to: (A) The #1 team in the country, and (B) a under-achieving but talented Big Ten team.

It makes no difference if they beat Washington, or Stanford, or anyone else by fewer points than you find acceptable. The bottom line is winning.

Of course, we could look at Oregon losing to USC by 32, or only beating Arizona (3-8) by 7, or only beating Washington St. (4-7) by 3.

ND barely beat UW by about 10 or so... oregon beat them by 31... nd escaped from stanford by three... oregon beat stanford at stanford by more than 30....
For the record, Oregon beat both these teams by 24, but again who's really keeping track, right?

okay yeah my math was off from those two games... my point was that oregon still won by more points than ND did.

ND .vs. UW & Stan.
36-17 19pt diff.
38-31 7 point diff

Oregon .vs. UW & Stan.
45-21 24 pt diff
44-20 24 pt diff

I'll give ND some credit about their near win... im not a complete homer. that was quite a game and you guys played hard... i wish oregon would've known you play 2 halves in football.

I agree partly w/ king... ya'll get smashed by osu... if oregon were to have played osu... id say it'd be a close game, but you guys would get us late... GO OSU!

Of course you think so you are defending your team. you should take it from a neutral fan. I'm not a fan of either team. Oregon does stink. Put them in the ACC who could the beat? NC state maybe...wake forest....and maybe clemson. SEC kentucky, tennessee currently, well maybe not them either, vandy, miss state, and ole miss. Big ten...Hmm.loss to OSU, loss from Michigan, loss from NW, loss from Wisconsin, loss from MSU, loss from Iowa, I know yall wouldn't beat the nittany lions. So who does that leave
Ok Since you wanna play the both teams beat the same team. Since you are saying Oregon is better than ND, and ND bearly lost to USC. Do you think you would beat fresno state, a team that lost to USC by 8?

How many of you have watched a ducks game this year, not including highlights?

I saw Oregon against OSU (Civil War); they did look impressive.

One last point: Notre Dame plays teams from the Big East, Big Ten, Pac Ten, Mountain West, and the SEC. They often have to compete against a completely different style of football every week. This does make a difference.

i just hope oregon doesnt pull a CAL. No 5 in BCS last year, lost to usc, like oregon. Got screwed out of the BCS game, played in the holiday bowl, i think Texas Tech, or was it Utah? Any way they got blown out because they all thought it'd be a cake walk. I think Oregons spread offence and Dennis Dixon will overwhelm Oklahoma. I also want to see Adrian Peterson .vs. The ducks front seven.

They should do playoffs and each game will be a bowl.

Arch52
12-09-2005, 06:06 PM
I think if they use a playoff system, i think it should be limited to 8 teams no more than 16, then you run a risk of having guys getting injured blah blah... then have like a playoff like the NIT, for the best of the rest.
