1. You play your division twice = 6 games
2. You play a whole division from your conference, rotated on a 3 year basis as there are 3 divisions in your conference not including your own = 4 games
3. You play a whole division from the other conference, rotated on a 4 year basis as there are 4 divisions in each conference = 4 games
4. In the other 2 divisions in your conference not including your own and not including the division that your playing as a whole this year, you must play the team that came in the same position as you. So for example: This year the Colts play the whole AFC North. They also play New England (AFC East) and San Diego (AFC West) because they finished 1st in their division last year just like the Colts did (AFC South). If you come 3rd in your division then you would play two other 3rd placed teams from your conference. = 2 games
I think I have it all right!

Its a good system. But one could make an arguement that if you play well one season why should you have to play those two good teams next season. Why shouldnt you get an advantage and play two bad teams.
