Aight, this time around I gotta make it look real nice...this will be sent out to all major colleges around the country, so I will need your help perfecting it as best as I can.
Therefore, things you will need to know:
This is just my roughdraft copy (I am looking for constuctive criticsm)
I am #65 in the tape (In case I didnt put the captions on one. lemme know if there is one captionless.)
This is just my first 3 games so some of you may have seen some of the footage on the last highlight tape. I will be adding the rest of it on here once I get the film from my coach, which should be very soon.

i like the video...I mean I don't watch much lineman video so I can't really compare but I enjoyed it. i read an article in my highschool football magazine about how coaches enjoy our prospects are giving them video and information to them in more interactive/enjoyable ways like videos with music and graphics and prospects with their own websites...(www.myronrolle.net)...
I enjoyed it and its for sure much better (quality wise) than many other prospect videos I've seen. A question though. What video editing program did you use to make it? I would like to see if I can get it from best buy later when I need to make a video next year...

To get it from camera to computer I use ULEAD VideoStudio
to edit it I use Windows Movie Maker 2.1
Thanks for the comments, anything you didnt like?

Southern Mississippi <----The Reason I made the tape...they asked for a highlight tape
Prairie View A&M
thats pretty much it....I'm just a lil man trying to make a big splash into the NCAA spotlight
Some How, I will be known in the future....

I liked the tape a lot mate, you have a lot of potential and you definately have a knack for getting D-Lineman on their asses. Great quality film aswell, and you look like you have a quality team, what was your record this season?
You look bigger than your teammates, are any of them being recruited?

Thanks for the comments my friend....
Our record was 10-2, we went 2 rounds deep into the playoffs.
Our D-End has signed with Texas, LB to Oklahoma State, Saftety to Texas A&M, as for the offensive side of the ball the RB is being recruited, Both tackles and hopefully me.
As for size, I am the 3rd biggest on the line.
T- 6-4 300
T- 6-2 315
lil ole me 6-3 265
Anything you didnt like about the tape, or suggestions?

Uh heres some Q's id ask if i were a scout:
Have you had any expierince(sp) on the Defensive line?
If so do you have d-line highlights?
Do you feel that you are a leader on your team?
Do you play mindless or with lots of intensity(mindless meaning do you get the job done and not even realize what you did i play like that :p )
Whats your 40 yard dash time?(was it in the video i cant remember)
Take the music out... If you think someone wants to sit their and watch your film while your shitty(at least to them) music is playing, think again. Having music play isnt going to make them think you are any better.
Also, put an arrow on yourself, not just a caption. Its sometimes hard to see where the center is and therefore find out where the guard is.

although the music was hot..it should be taken out..its a good tape but like OLP said..show where u are..and maybe add some footage where u are in pass blocking instead of run blocking.

Yea get the arrow in there, other than that you're fine.
Good luck!

i would even circle yourslef to make it even easier to identify. I would also keep the music, but maybe change it around from school to school.
For example, if you were sending it to a more modern school like Miami, keep it.
If you are going to ND or PENN State, go with somehting more classic.
I would keep the music since this is essentially marketing yourself, and they will see this as an addition to the good plays. If they dont like it, then they can turn it down.

Every recruiter/scout I have ever heard told me it was useless. I would be surprised if they even had the volume on. And if you think it is gonna make any difference, it is not. Trust me, colleges dont pay recruiters that can get awestruck by a nice soundtrack

Uh heres some Q's id ask if i were a scout:
1. Have you had any expierince(sp) on the Defensive line?
2. If so do you have d-line highlights?
3. Do you feel that you are a leader on your team?
4. Do you play mindless or with lots of intensity(mindless meaning do you get the job done and not even realize what you did i play like that :p )
5.Whats your 40 yard dash time?(was it in the video i cant remember)
1. Not on varsity I do not, therefore, it is useless.
2. above^^
3. Of Course I am, I lead by example; 90% of our run plays where to my side, so I had to block well.
4. Imma intense type of guy, the more on the line, the better I play.....you insult me...bet the next few plays you'll be on the ground.
5. 5.2 back in March which was 4 months after my ACL surgery, therefore an official time, I do not have one as of now.
@OLP: thanks for the comments, you coulda used a nicer word than "shitty" for the music :p
If I could I would have an arrow or circle, unfortunatly the software I use does not have that feature therefore I cannot put it. The music is not nessicarily for the coaches, more than likely they will be watching it on a projecter which does not play music. To a recruiter the music is useless, but since the film is about me....and selling myself to them...I want it to be as nice as possible, to show that I give 100% in what I do.
Thanks all for the replies my Athletes.com people.
they were much appreciated,
Other than the arrow/circle (or anything pertaining to locating me) and music is there anything else you did not like??

i would go to a graphics/computer teacher at your school and talk to them about getting some help to put in the locations.
yea, our VisCom department does highlight tapes for anyone that needs em.
Remember though, most times if a college is serious about you, they will ask for a highlight tape AND 2 game tapes.
GOOD LUCK!

D1 Prospect, did you do this film on your own? I am looking to do pretty much the same thing, but i want to put an entire game or 2 into one film. If poosible i would like to know what it takes to do this. Also, the film i will be starting with is VHS, and i want to copy it from ymVCR to my computer and use Windows movie maker to edit it. Any help from anyone will be much appreciated.

yes, I had to do it by myself. Well you need to get an "A/V In" adapter, this is how you get it from VHS to on the computer......The box should tell you how to capture it.
So Things you need are:
VCR
Computer
A/V IN adapter
Patience and lots of it....
thats pretty much it

I think I figured it out, using Windows Movie Maker.....
what I am going to try to do is export a frame of the movie as a picture edit with the circle then re-import it
In English: Pretend the movie is a pciture and edit certain parts of it by adding the circles!
Incase that doesnt work...what was your idea?
What colors ya'll think stick out?

You can do all this with Windows Movie Maker?? I had to spend $100 on some VideoSolve thing, looks like it does the same thing you're talking about.

exactly, i was gonna say use ulead to capture the frame from the very first second of the formation. Import it to paint, draw a circle around yourself, then import it back into ulead and insert in the same spot where you took it out and make the duration like 2.5 seconds. But if you edited in WMM then i guess ut moght be better to do the same thing there.
