does anyone know how to transfer video footage from the video camera to the computer

i have a windows xp and a canon video camera

does your camera take tapes or discs? if it takes tapes, then you have to get a vcr/dvd player/ burner, and burn the tape to the dvd. then you just put the dvd in the computer and use an editing program.

or if you have a lead? you can hook them up directly! look in ur cameras bag thingy and see if you have wires that you dont know what they do! chances are they might hook it up to the pc!
