when do college combines start and what happens at them? is there an age limit? i was thinking about going to a couple next season.

Joe DeFranco and Martin Rooney from the Parisi Speed School both have combine prep videotapes available. I highly suggest that you get a copy if you plan on attending.

Most of the one's I know of only allow Sophmores (going into jr year) and Jr's (going into Sr year) to attend. They are in the spring usually.

The tests usually include 40 yard dash, 185 bench for reps, standing vertical jump, and 5-10-5 pro agility. Some have the broad jump as well.

The 3 cone drill is usually not used in High School combine training.

I agree that the combine video's listed above are good, however, Joe's video is a little out of date. The rules have changed since he made that video -- especially for the 40 yard dash. That does not make it bad -- just out dated.

Also, the Parisi video is done for NFL combine training. Make sure you know the rules of your particular combine before you attend.

What changed about the 40 yard dash in terms of rules?

Most combine officials will no longer allow shoulders over the line anymore at the start of the 40. At the time Joe made the tape, that was not the case.
